I have many interests in life. Aside from my work as Project Manager and my passions in beauty and fashions, I also love the arts. I want balance between technical and the creative to keep me in touch with everything that make me most happy and where I can realize all my potentials.
Last year, I joined the Surrey Art Gallery as a volunteer assisting with special events and it has been a wonderful experience personally. Our Art Gallery hosts a series of exhibitions and events throughout the year that serves not only art lovers but also foster art appreciation in children through Family Days. During Family Days, which are being hosted every month during the summer, children and parents get to come and learn how to create paper pictures, paintings, drawings, lanterns, face paintings, clay masks, henna, and finally they get a tour of the latest exhibition by one of the docents at the gallery. What better way to learn about arts than in a fun and interactive environment?
I don't get to participate in such activities often so when I do have the opportunity to come out and help during special events for children, I love my experience with them. I am also most happy to see the excitement on their faces and the accomplishment they feel when they get to take home their creations.
And the teachers are amazing group of people. Personally, I envy them for the work that they do because they make a difference in people's lives in a significant way, especially for children. I met a few teachers this week at an appreciation dinner and I truly respect what they do for our community.
Support your local art gallery and take your children, nieces or nephews to check out the latest exhibitions and talk about it with them. It will open their minds to a different way of thinking and appreciating visuals and concepts that will foster imagination and creativity for future development.
